ENRICH Webinar Series

Event Information
May 10, 2023
12:00pm - 1:30pm Eastern Time (US & Canada)
Central to the question of Indigenous Sovereignty is the principle of self-determination. Tribal legal systems, protocols, and codes are drawn from tradition and are designed to protect ICIP, facilitate self-governance, and ensure Native continuance. How are Indigenous Nations exercising their inherent authority and self-governance rights to protect IP (including Traditional Knowledge, TCE, environmental data, and bio-genetic data among others)? What strategies and tools have proven successful in defending against the appropriation, theft, and abuse of Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP)?
Join us as we bring together Professor Angela Riley (Citizen Potawatomi Nation) , Professor. Steph Carroll (Dene/Ahtna), Dr. Krystal Tsosie (Diné/Navajo Nation) Dr. Ibrahim Garba (Karai-Karai), and Professor Jane Anderson for an in-depth discussion around practical solutions and examples of Tribal IP Codes and Policies.
